This University of Helsinki-funded doctoral project (2026-2029) explores how legacies of slavery and colonialism shape everyday life and collective memory in a creolized context. It draws on film, photography, and vernacular archives, using foodways as a sensory lens to examine how (hi)stories, kinship, and belonging are embodied and enacted within Zimbabwe’s multiracial ‘Coloured’ community.
