A charming portrait of the 78-year-old owner of a secret collection of vintage sewing machines that connect him with strangers.
Tucked away next to an old textile factory in the Sants neighbourhood of Barcelona, 78-year-old Bernabé Martinez Poves keeps a secret museum of over 250 sewing machines, dating back to1860. His collection serves not only as a visual relic of a long-forgotten era, but also as a meeting point. Bernabé keeps his doors open to the public, as a way to share the history of his collection, the symbolism of the sewing machine and to encourage conversations around changing patterns of production and consumption.
